___The 99%________Cartoon#_1_
What action is taking place in the cartoon? A cross-section of a young a man's brain holding an sign that says “Occupy Wall Street.” The comical cross-section shows a small portion in the front labeled “common sense” and then the other portion with the words “Ideology, Angst, and Rage” written on it. It is labeled “The other 99%” He is also wearing a pin that says “$ $ $ is evil.”
Tone of the cartoon:
1)positiveor
negative framing of protestors (circle answer)
2) framing issupportive or
opposed to protestors of the wealthy 1% (Circle answer)
What “reality” is constructed/framed about the protestors? About the wealthy %?
The reality framed here is that the protesters minds are 99% full of rage, ideology, and angst, and only 1% of common sense. A play on protesters detesting the 1% who control a large portion of America's wealth and the 99% who they say they represent.  Funny enough there is a Facebook page dedicated to "occupying" common sense.  The cartoonist is making fun of occupiers saying that they have all this energy and grand ideas but their overlooking of common sense is ridiculous. The protester is also portrayed as a dopey, money hater, signified by his pin.

___The Evolution of a Protestor_________Cartoon#_2_
What action is taking place in the cartoon? In the first frame a young child is shown with his mother at the store telling her “If you don't buy me this I'll hold my breath until I turn blue!!” In the next frame the same boy is shown only a little older now protesting on Wall street carrying a sign that says “Force the rich to share their wealth!!”
Tone of the cartoon:
1)positiveor
negative framing of protestors (circle answer)
2) framing issupportive or
opposed to protestors of the wealthy 1% (Circle answer)
What “reality” is constructed/framed about the protestors? About the wealthy %?
The reality shown here is one that portrays today's generation, (more specifically the occupiers) as a spoiled, demanding, and an entitled generation The boy is shown complaining to his mom giving her an ultimatum that if she doesn't buy him something then he'll turn blue. This is also a play on words being that blue is commonly referred to as the color for Democrats and red the color for Republicans. This is suggesting that becoming a Democrat is a bad thing and that she has to comply with his demands.
The protester “evolves” into a twenty-something goatee and pony tailed Wall Street occupier. As it turns out the average age of people participating in the Occupy Wall Street movement is 33.  He is also wearing an Obama t-shirt showing that he did in fact turn blue this re-enforces the belief that occupiers are all liberals and Democrats while findings show that only 33% of occupiers identify themselves as Democrats but 72% align themselves with progressive ideals.
It also makes fun of how the kid is continuing to demand from others holding a sign that says. “Force the rich to share their wealth!!” This is accurate following the occupiers Principles of Solidarity

What action is taking place in the cartoon?
In this cartoon there is a lot talking place. The main focus is the 2 individuals portraying the media; they are holding Uncle Sam who is blindfolded, who is portrayed as the American public. The media is guiding Uncle Sam through the crowds of protestors while spraying Febreze air freshener on the protestors who are shown as dirty and crude. In turn, Uncle Sam is describing the things he can smell such as apple pie, baseball and the 4th of July, when in reality he is walking though protestors who are very upset with the way things are right now. There are lots of protestors also. There is one protestor who is defecating on a police car while there is another protestor wearing a Fidel Castro shirt. There is also a lot of trash and dirt around the protestors.

Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of protesters (bold answer)
2) framing is supportive or opposed to protesters of the wealthy 1% (Circle answer)
What “reality” is constructed/framed about the protesters? About the wealthy %?
The reality that is being constructed is that everything is really “alright”. Here we can really see the media trying to construct this “reality” of peaches and cream, or in this case, apple pie, baseball and the 4th of July. The reality about the protestor is that of dirty lazy individuals who need to be hidden.
To really understand this cartoon, you need to have viewed the febreze commercials. View them here, here and here. In this cartoon the American people are portrayed as Uncle Sam. Where the media is trying to cover and hide the situation happening with Occupy Wall Street. In turn, the American people are only seeing what the media want them to see, which is framing by the media. Because of this the American people, or uncle Sam can only smell things such as apple pie, baseball or the 4th of July, or things that are viewed as “good” by the American public.
The protesters in this cartoon are portrayed as lazy, crude and dirty. There is one protester that is defecating on a police car, which is something that actually did happen, referred to as a “PoPo pooper”. View here. Also there is a protestor wearing a Fidel Castro shirt which could be a viewed as HELP. You can also see here in the cartoon, the media trying to hide the signs of the protesters, with some saying inappropriate or crude sayings.

What action is taking place in the cartoon?
In this cartoon a protestor is holding a sign opposing corporations, and participating in the protest walking past a business man reading an article about the Occupy Wall street on his way to work, most likely in one of the corporations that they are protesting against. The irony of this cartoon is that the protestor is turning to ask the business man if he would be able to work and if their company is hiring.

Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of protesters (bold answer)
2) framing is supportive or opposed to protesters of the wealthy 1% (bold answer)
What “reality” is constructed/framed about the protesters? About the wealthy %?
The reality being constructed here is negative for the protestors that they are going about their protest the wrong way. It is showing the protestors as protesting for something be in reality not really standing for what they are protesting for and asking for help from the individuals and corporations they are upset with. This is showing the protestors as being hypocrites or two faced and it is also showing the 1% of business people of Wall Street as they are aware of the situation but not willing to help these protestors.

Title of cartoon: Occupy Wall Street Cartoon #5
What action is taking place in the cartoon?
A man dressed as, a working class American, states to the Wall Street Executive that he is not part of the Occupy movement, but rather has been on the street for three years.
Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of protestors (highlighted)
2) framing is supportive or opposed to protestors of the wealthy 1% (highlighted)
What “reality” is constructed/framed about the protestors? About the wealthy 1%
The reality framed here is shown by Wall Street Executive (the 1%) looking rather dumbfounded when the man in the box tells him that he has been sitting there jobless and homeless for the last three years. Three years ago, when the United States government moved to bail out the banks, they were essentially bailing out Wall Street. Unfortunately even after that, many businesses cut jobs, banks foreclosed on homes, and working class Americans were forced out on to the street.
It simply shows that what is happened with the Occupiers and Wall St. predates the movement and that rather than fix the problem before it got out of hand. The one percent simply ignored it and continued to choose profits over people.

What action is taking place in the cartoon?
In the cartoon, there is a man (Mark CVST, Trustafarian (calling him a trust fund baby) with all his possessions and clothing being labeled with their stock market abbreviations. All the things labeled are: Apple ear buds, Apple iPod, Macbook Pro, Jansport backpack, Vintage jacket from Urban Outfitters, Latte, Mommy & Daddy’s credit cards, High-End Distressed Jeans from Banana Republic, and Birkenstock Sandals. Written on the right bottom corner of the cartoon is: “Let’s hear it for the invisible hand!!!” (http://www.investopedia.com/terms/i/invisiblehand.asp#axzz1pF4T4Bya) The man in the cartoon is holding a sign which reads: “Down with Capitali$m 99%”
Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of protestors (Bolded)
2) framing is supportive or opposed to protestors of the wealthy 1% (Bolded)
What “reality” is constructed/framed about the protestors? About the wealthy 1%?
The reality framed about the protestors in this comic is that a lot of them who are protesting against capitalism of big business don’t realize that they are promoting big business and capitalism through the products they buy. With their own money they are helping the system they are protesting. It’s really showing the irony of the protestors. When it says: “Let’s hear it for the invisible hand!!!” The cartoon is referring to the idea that with our purchases for our own gain we promote something that we may not have wanted to promote, or realized we were promoting. The title of the cartoon is also hitting on the irony of the protestors and the Occupy Movement as a whole. The abbreviations for all the stocks of protestor’s brands draw attention to the companies themselves. The abbreviation [OWS] for the Occupy Wall Street movement draws attention the fact that the movement has slowly become a business itself.

What action is taking place in the cartoon?
A Wall Street protestor is sitting in his recliner and drinking a soda.

Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of protestors (Bolded)
2) framing is supportive or opposed to protestors of the wealthy 1% (Bolded)

What “reality” is constructed/framed about the protestors? About the wealthy %?
The protestors are shown as lazy people who are occupy their recliners, more than they do Wall Street. The cartoon is also doing a play on words for all of the signs that protestors hold up. The protestor has his fist in the air as if he is cheering something on, while not doing anything about it. This represents the protestors as people who are not actually doing anything about their situation, but are instead just complaining about it and cheering each other on.
